Color rank pips

Article about: Hi, Someone could explain it to the color difference of rank pips ? I do not think this is the light at the photo. The photo is dated 1933. Regards. Philippe

    As the pips was made by different manufacturers, that is widely used when the the soldier was promoted to the higher rank, he use the new pip attached to the collar tab. As usual it's a very hard to find similar in color and shape pip

    IMO, they are not different in the color, as you know the enamel is varied from a light rose to the deep cherry, which is near black

    As also you can see the soldier is being worn an M 24 Gimnasterka, with practically square ends of the collar, due of that is the collartabs is also is square.
    I have that kind of gimnasterka in my collection, and I guess it was displayed somwhere here on the forum. Also I have one cotton M 24 gimnasterka. In that case all the pips is solid brass made and enamel used is just a red paint, as you can see them on the thread with rank pips.
