Question Re: WW2 2 piece cockade from Berlin

How can you tell these are from WWII and not 1946?

Nice badge! By the way, be carefull with what you bring back. Some items might get you in trouble.

My understanding was that when the sickle and hammer are seperate, we are in presence of a pre-1945 cap badge. It might wven be a pre-war cap badge.

The two piece model (pattern) of 1936 was manufactured and issued until 1939/40 but is seen in use throughout the war and into the postwar years.

    1 - 38MM - Senior Officers

    2 - 34MM - Officers & EM

Late 1940s model (pattern) - I believe 1947/48 or thereabout.

34MM - for use by all, except general & marshals until 1955.
