Many years ago I had a German acquintance, Manfred Brüch,
who had a nice collection of flags. In about 2010 Manfred died
and his family was not keen and amused about their brother's
collection, while all over it had swastikas (which they did not like).

I was advised what they could do with the flags and told them,
they could sell all of it through an auction-house or some dealers,
which addresses I provided. I felt they were not pleased with
it at all, and even suggested they better could destroy all of it.

I have never seen any of the flags offered anywhere and now
I think they may indeed have destroyed the flags. What a pity
that would be. I tried to contact the family later, but they never
answered my letters or phone-calls, and I think they suit the
    action to the word!

Has any of you ever seen any of these flags offered? I do not
have better or detailed photographs, as Manfred could not
supply me with that anymore (possibly due to his illness).
    Anyway I never got them........

    Is all of this gone?

Wim. I certainly hope that's not the case! I can understand the family's opposition to the symbolism behind the objects, but that would be tragic to loose such pieces of history. I wonder how long it would take and the expense to acquire such pieces over a lifetime! I hope you at some point hear contrary to your suspicion. Thanks for sharing some more fantastic images/artifacts as usual. Best regards.

Wim. Is the first flag Frauenschaft? The wheat/sword combination is unfamiliar to me. I d love to see the flags themselves in their entirety, what a collection. Kindest regards.

I tried so often to contact the family, at one moment - after more
then a year - I gave up and had no good feelings anymore! My
feelings were no good, due to some uttarances!

The green patch is for Bauernschaft (farmers), local Ortsbauernschaft
    (agriculture).

Thanks Wim for the information. For the sake of history and your friends memory, I hope these pieces are still in fact in existence. Best of luck with your search my friend!

Interesting Post - and although I'm unable to help in this particular matter - I'm reminded of the strong Social Tabu that has long accompanied Swastika-Adorned Artifacts in Germany...When I was a youngster I heard so many stories about how Families would throw out anything & everything that could be construed as Nazi or Military-Related...One lady told me that her Mother buried all the uniforms in the garden; The resulting Cabbages were the largest they'd ever had, she said...
    cheers, Glenn

There is hope. I was informed that anyway one flag for the NSBO with a patch München 456 was once
offered for sale at victor-gross in Germany. So, one flag is anyway ALIVE!

After all, the family may have made a wise decision and contacted the one or the other dealer. I do feel relieved!

I am checking out now some of the others flags. So, if someone knows these flags still do exist in a
collection, it would be great to hear.
    To mention:
DAF - Das Deutsche Handwerk Gardelegen (a flag der Handwerkerschaft in der Kreisleitung/Ortswaltung)
DAF - Schönebeck Felgeleben (an Ortswaltung flag)
DAF - Garmisch Partenkirchen 4 (an Ortswaltung flag)
DAF - Rheinberg 2 (an Ortswaltung flag)
DAF - Sinzing 2 (an Ortswaltung flag)
DAF - Wels West 9 (an Ortswaltung flag)
    DAF - Eggenfelden 4 (an Orstwaltung-flag)
DAF - Schwerte 9 (an Ortswaltung flag)
DAF - Marienburg 1 (an Ortswaltung flag)
DAF - Alfeld 1 (an Ortswaltung flag)
    DAF - Siegen-Hammerhütte 8 (an Ortswaltung flag)
DAF - Oberhof (an Ortswaltung flag)
DAF - Vöcklabruchk 9 (an Orstwaltung flag)
DAF - Kreuzau (an Ortswaltung flag)

PS: if I find the time I will scan some of the patches for a better understandin.

Did they really feel they had anything to be proud of ? why would families want to keep such things in those days.... ( unless they were and still are staunch National Socialists )....
