It may be a recovery date. There was probably still lots of stuff in attics and warehouses that weren't destroyed.

Lol... that is my thinking. 6 of 44. Even when Germans had a book collection... this is how they marked each book. 1 of 25... 1/25. But is it quantity of production or quantity of storage and layout?

Moe likely a SA unit number. 6th sturm of the 44th standarte. Typical manner in which SA units were designated on collar tabs. If I have time, I will look up the 44th standarte to see where it was headquartered.

Good afternoon,
Not my intention to interfere with mister Coleman, but I did a quick search and found this:
SA-Gruppe "Ost" - Königsberg
SA-Brigade 1 - Gumbinen
SA-Standarte 33 - Gumbinen
SA-Standarte 42 - Tilsit
SA-Standarte 44 - Schloßberg
SA-Standarte 45 - Insterburg
SA-Reiter Standarte 1 - Gumbinen
I am in no way an expert on SA-Standarte, but this is what I found on a German Forum after a quick search online.
I thought it might help you a little.
Regards, Rik

Very interesting thoughts... I didn't think of that... very rational idea.

as Dschop says there is no Standarte 44 at Berlin.
It is not listed in any of the official adress-lists from the Oberste SA-Führung,
which I have available. And so the explanation for 6/44 being for SA is just
nonsense!
It is neither a flag for the SA, but just a banner for hanging and as such offered.
From a price-list where it is said that any width or length one could order. They
were used at events, meetings or whatever:

I understood what Dschop meant... I was just stating that it was a rational idea... and I appreciate all the feedback and ideas. It is just a curiosity to figure out the meaning of the numbers and apparently this isn't a uncommon thing.
