I hope I have this in the right forum..apologies if it is not.

Just got this flag from a person that was moving, and was getting tired of lugging it around from place to place.
The story she gave me about it, was her ex-husband's grandfather grabbed this off a school house in Normandy after the invasion. He boxed it up, and sent it home with a small note, (which she is trying to locate) saying where exactly it was from.
He unfortunately did not make it home from France.

I do no know a lot about flags, so I was wondering what the crew thought.
    regards

I have one of these too. As flags go, are these rare or common?

I would suspect lots of these were manufactured, and lots burned after the war. Hard to say about the rarity I would guess...

You're probably right. Mine has a number of BB sized moth holes anyway, so it may not be worth that much. Still, I'm in it for preserving the history, and it's pretty cool to caretake this item for a while. It feels so fragile though, I always worry I'll pick it up one day and it'll just crumble. Wish there was a way to preserve them.

Here's mine with some of my other collection:

    German Flag

The flag has BB sized moth holes, but other than that it's really clean, and the colors are still pretty bright. It also has what I believe is the vet who brought it backs name in it (R.D. Hunt), with maybe some sort of soldier ID? You can see it in this picture:

I don't know if that detracts from the value, but for me, it adds to it to tie it to a soldier like that.
