    Default German Flag

    Good day to all.

Only been on this forum for a few days but have already received tons of help.

I have another item I am looking to get some info on and so far this has been the place.

Attached is a photo of a flag that I received from my father. Is this anything of interest or is it something that they mass produced and there are tons of them around?

    Thanks,
    Paul

Assuming it's real, it is a Reichs Krieg Flagge, (National War Flag), the 1935-1938 version. Probably fairly common, it might depend on the size, as to desirability.

    Thanks for the info.

The size is 13 3/8" x 19". Is that a pretty common size?

I think that is not too common a size, most I have seen have been at least twice that size. Small, like this one or medium sizes, are the more desirable, as the big ones are harder to display, if you wanted to. I have no idea on current market value, if you wanted to know.

Cool. Is there a dealer you have worked with and would recommend?

(Sorry if it is against the rules to ask that here.)

    Thanks,
    Paul

That flag appears to be Japanese made. The pigskin corner reinforcements are of the style used on Japanese flags in WWII. The Japanese had German flags displayed as they were allies. There is a website that has a similar flag:

    German WWII

Go halfway down the page. The item is:

20823 Japanese WWII Era Made Kreigs Flag 19x13 Inch

I may be way off, but it might help...

A number of German pattern flags were produced in Japan in the 1970's. This is likely one of them.

Bob is correct. This one does date from the 1970's, I know as I have one.

    Cheers, Ade.
