Hand sew a pocket of calico along the rear edge you want to be at the top and then put a curtain rod through the pocket. It distributes the weight along the whole edge, and is removable with very little if any damage.

I use the clips for paper bundles that most office supply rooms at work have. Use a nail to hold them up. They're not the prettiest thing but if the look bugs you you can get clever and find a way to camouflage them. They do not seem to damage the cloth. You can take one side of the leverage "clips" off after you have the cloth attached.

Something on the same line as Hummel, is if you find yourself anywhere round a women,s clothing section of a department store you will see small padded clamps with a hook for hanging. Thanks to my wife I spend a lot of time Lurking around the underwear section.
