Got this flag directly from the daughter-in-law of the vet (Sgt. Frank Shea) who brought it back. It has quite a lot of info written on it, including the names of the G.I.s and officers and places they've been. Unfortunately it must have gotten wet at some time while it was folded because some of the words bled over on the other side. Regardless, it is still a fascinating piece of history.

Wow! Great souvenir and piece of history. It would be time consuming but would be interesting to compile info on the soldiers who signed it.

If anybody is interested, I have compiled a list of names on the flag. The handwriting on the flag looks like it is from the same person, Sgi. Shea I presume.

Looks like a Divisional chronicle flag, possibly done for a reunion.

I say chronicle, because it appears to be in the same hand as opposed to a group of different individual signatures.

Very Cool! ......and an excellent archival reference.

So it's a Divisional Chronicle flag. That makes sense. I did not know how to describe it or what its purpose was.

It's that good it should be in a Museum, so future generations can see it.

A pleasure to look at it Pablo, thanks for sharing the pictures mate.

I have already seen this flag via someone else... what is noticeable is this... the flag doesn't have signatures, but a list of people written by someone assuming it was a vet.... "one" persons's handwriting. That being said this is completely different from one that has been "signed" by a group of soldiers. So this is more like "trench art", instead of the typical unit signed captured flag.

Nice flag with so many names... My armband only has two (and I only can read one of them)

    Best, Jan
