    Looks good to me.

I think it's a good price dispite the small holes.
Normally the 'Eagle-M' stamp is black.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Looks to be pretty fragile shape, but it's a nice displayable size, at least. I can't say that I've ever heard anything about the color of the KM stamps, though. As Steve said, they're almost always seen in standard black ink. Price-wise, it's a wee bit more than I would like to pay, but they are a desirable collectors piece and are much sought, so it's a matter of how bad a person wants it. William

does red mean fake? or is it just uncommon? And i know it is rather a stretch, but could this have been flown on a u boat?

    all the best,
    Stefan

Somewhere I read a list that contained all the sizes for particular ships, boats etc,
but I don't remember where. Might have been here or Google ?

Red stamp is just a variation I suppose, but the markings and re-enforcing
stitching look good to me. I got burned by a fake of this type, so you
wake up pretty quickly as to what to look for !

They are named 'Reichkriegsflagg', or 'National War Flag', and without
the Eagle-M stamp were used for a variety of purposes
    ie: schools, businesses, etc.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

It's genuine-just abit unusual for the red stamp, is all. As for where or what it was flown on, that's about anyone's guess. The U-boats didn't fly the giant size flags, of course, but this one Might be on the small size for one. More than likely, from it's size, it may have flown on a small water craft such as a landing craft, etc. but it's impossible to say definitely one way or another. William

That would be handy to have such a list posted here,if you ever find it, Steve! It would, for sure, answer alot of old questions!

    It is good.

I posted a list of flag sizes and what tonnage ships they were used on: it's here somewhere.....

    Cheers, Ade.

Found one sort of list on a web site:
KM ship flown RKF sizes are #3 (50x85cm), and #5 (80x135cm),
both used on vessels up to 500 tons, such U/E-boats. #6
(100x170cm), and #7 (150x250cm), used on ships between
    500 to 1500 tons. #8 (200x335cm), and #10 (300x500cm), for
ships over 1500 tons, like the cruiser Leipzig (8,380 tons). #11 (400x670cm), and #12 (450x750cm), used on ships over
10,000 tons, like the battleships Graf Spea (12K-16K tons), and
the Bismarck (50,405 tons). Then again some of the larger sizes
were also flown on land locations too.
