I must agree. The eagle is poorly design. However, these were sometimes field made and quite crude. From the pictures, I would pass

I believe this one to be an original piece, but just poorly done, I don't think I have seen any decent repro's done in chain stitching before.
I showed these photos to OFW (Old Flags Wanted) on the WAF, as their resident flag guy, and he agrees that it is period, but rather crudely finished.

I have to agree with you-it looks period to me. I've never liked the looks of the chain-stitched stuff, but it is what it is. Ugly as sin, but very likely original.

Actually, the Condition of it is fairly Good. It's just the Craftsmanship of the Work that is poorly done.
