Skull and Crossbone Flag Identification Needed

I am cataloging the items of the Holocaust exhibit at the museum that I am interning in and cannot figure out what this banner is. The label in the case said that it was hung on the doors of Jews who were to be executed; however, I cannot verify this anywhere. I did notice that it looks very similar to the German minen sign. Does anyone know for sure what this was used for? I would appreciate any help that could be given.

These are as you said thought by most to be another variation on the Anti gas marker flag. Evidence shows that the type you are thinking of are for gas and not for minefields and if you do a search you can find some period pictures posted by me showing them in use.

I cannot comment on authenticity, but it is the type of warning flag that was originally intended as a gas marker, but later commonly used to mark mine fields.

The story about special flags for hanging from the doors of Jews to be executed is a fantasy.
