    Sometimes lightning strikes twice!
After having the luck to find a rare damast Hirschfänger by Stock Eisenach (Royal supplier - Hoflieferant) Larry pointed out a second one to me, as i came up on facebook in his regio, its the one with the panel etch "Waidmannsheil"
Thx for this one Larry, i owe you a single malt Whisky
Stock has on a couple of their damast pieces a patent year and a royal suppliers proofmark, some lack them, and in this case one has the early WKC Logo ( King & Knight heads)
Its clear these Hirschfängers show W.K.C. parts, the acorn differ in size, and looking at the WKC blades: they both bear typical WKC etch patterns, which Gary confirmed, having researched the ones available i share his thoughts that F.W. Stock is more a distributer then a maker.
Thank you Gary for discussing and sharing your knowledge about these Hirschfängers, appreciated!
Both have lost their skinner in time, a pity but to me not that important.
The blades and etches are superb in quality and craftmanship!
    Damast is realy something special!
I will let the picture do the talking, enjoy!

    Regards
    Ger

So this was the Cinderella that I had found?
Its amazing what can still be found in the most obscure places.

Actually the seller was asking if this Hirsch was real or not and brought it to the attention of Gerrit.
Ger had stars in his eyes and I sent him the sellers email.

Above is the end result of what I seen in dirty photos on Facebook and all dressed and cleaned up ready for the Cinderella Ball.
I have never seen such an exquisite panel etch.
What is the translation or meaning of "Waidmannsheil"

    Regards Larry

A couple of magnificent pieces there Ger. Superb etching. You must be over the moon!
The "Eisenhauer" mark on the WKC blade is an old Solingen quality mark meaning literally "iron cutting blade". Its seen on numerous 19th century sword blades made by different makers and sold by different distributors. Here's an example found on a sword by Julius Voos of Solingen and distributor in Prague and another sword.

It was a bit like today a maker might mark "Carbon steel".
