Ben,

Got this today (€1). I don't know if these are before or after the war, I know that builders still wear them but that often they are passed down father to son? Another civil varaition on the buckle. If you want it let me know where to send it, an early Christmas box.

Ben,

By fake do you mean a post war buckle as they still wear these over here, it is not uncommon to see them in wear arround building sites?

Jock, when you see three solder points in a line like yours has also with the sharp prongs that the buckle has these buckles are fakes. I dont know why they would fake these buckles as they are not very sought after and would not really sell for much!

My point exactly, they are not fakes they are still produced today and I guess still proudly worn by tradesmen. The pattern may have been arround before the war, I don't know? Some of the fakes that you encounter routinely may have started life like this? With the attachment of a new centre? It did cost a €1 which is inkeeping with its value as a curiosity which was what it was offered as. Like 1957 pattern awards are not copies they exist in thier own right?
