Default NSDAP - Early Variant Diplomatic Buckle

    Hello,

Out picking today and came across this buckle. Reached out to Ben Evans. Seems to be a rarer variant to a NSDAP / Diplomatic buckle. Almost looks as well very similar to a forestry buckle variant. Nice gilding still remains to laurel wreath & adler setting against a nice pebbled roundel. Assmann makers mark nice and clean on back. No casting flaws. Heavy brass construction. Some pitting to keeper but overall a nice original and a rarer one I have not seen too many of that has some wear to it and has been there. Thanks Ben for being a sounding board and second set of eyes. Your expertise is always an asset. Happy to add to my buckle collection.

Thanks John. Neither had I. I have seen some very similar. Ben seemed to think it is a rarer variant. I was comfortable based on a good looking Assmann makers mark that this was a good original. Price was good as well which helps. Hope you are well.

Very nice buckle. I don't recall every seeing one Assmann marked. Very close to the one on my diplomatic brocade. Here is some of My friends brocades, one with a similar buckle.

Thanks Kirby for posting other examples. I appreciate it. Any ideas on who would have worn my buckle?

NSDAP / Government Official / Justice Official / Diplomatic?

Looking at Angolia's book he indicates your buckle is a Group 1 Government officials or Diplomatic officials. That wouldn't be a high rank. The all gold are Group three and that is the highest group.
