    Ben,

I finished last, year working for NAAFI now, living the dream. Just taking stock of 23 years of collecting what ever I found. I was in the Lager when I finished but I'm up in Hohne now. Yes the knocking shop is still there, it seem to have survived the recession!

    Regards

    Ben,

A few more tonight that I'm not keen on but you never know.

Your thread on fakes is very good, an excellent aid to the new collectors.

    Regards

Jock, the police buckle is by Julius Maurer ande looks like a good one, better pics of the makers mark would totally confirm this, cast fakes by JMO tend to be greyer in colour and rough, yours is a nice "white" aluminium colour, nice buckle. The Heer buckle is also very nice, made by Heinrich Arld. Dont like the steel SS to be honest, and better pics of the makers mark on the aluminium SS would be good. A quick way to tell if genuine on that one is to measure it. If it is less than 64mm in length is is then indeed a fake

    Ben,

Many thanks, I shall remember that top tip, 64mm, I will have to forget some childhood memories to fit it in. Is that only for SS? The police has JM and I think O in a triangle, Its quite difficult to get a good photo. It does say Maurer and 1941 on the leather. On those two I'm always susp of unused stuff but I guess it is out there. I have had them a while, they weren't expensive as I swapped with a German pal who has most of my 1157 from the 90s.
I will try for better photos but thats another hobby alone I think!

    Thanks again.

Jock, Julius Maurer Police is a good one, the Alu SS I am not 100%, measure the buckle and that will give you the definitive answer, my gut feeling is that it is a cast fake with the grey colour of the metal and I have seen some possible cast marks, they are very hard to tell apart, the ruler will give you your answer
