    Hi!
I've been trying to ID these two buckles for several years. I picked them up 25 years ago at a Frankfurt A.M. flea market (only paid 10 DM each). All attempts to ID them have been unsuccessful.

The one on the left has an M4 24 mark. The one on the right has no markings. The one on the left is a dark green while the one on the right seems to have been originally painted black.

I've guessed they might be from a factory security force, but don't really know for sure.

    Thanks!

They where made at the end of the war as a tansition model.
Thise is how I understood it!

It is believed that these were done this way at the end of the war to make the buckles useful for civilian wear, do you have better pics of the buckles?

I don't have the best camera (or perhaps I don't know how to best use it), but here are a few more photos.

I collected (or acquired would be a better description) german buckles while stationed in German in the early 80s.

The website suggested in the first post response had picture of both of the buckles with variations.

Thanks for getting me closer to solving the mystery!

Yes, from what I understand - these were used post-war by a variety of organizations - mostly civilian orgs.
Cool looking buckles though - I like 'em!
    Cheers!

Another point to note the only Heer buckle to be marked with the M4 mark is M4/44, the other buckles to be marked this way are HJ buckles, have you got closer pics of the M4/24 maker mark? quite unusual
