I think Ned was having a bit of fun re the pics being upside down

I have turned a few around for you.

The cards do look rather clean and bright. But that may be the flash.

Generalgouvernement für die besetzten polnischen Gebiete = General Government for the Occupied Polish Territories.

The cards have stamps for WHW.

    Cheers, Ade.

Made in Poland about 2 weeks ago !!
The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

    1st July 1916

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

The flash did mess up the contrast of their appreance but to the naked eye they do seem to have a slight yellowed tone that is the hallmark of old papers.

And sorry about the images being upside down.
