In fact the NSV (sort of a social services organization) maintained soup kitchens at the railway stations to feed the soldiers during rail transfers.

I also quite like the 'last supper' before loading up on the train (spork in use).
In the (admittedly rather unlikely ) case anybody wondered and always wanted to know: the German word for "spork" is "Göffel" [from "Gabel" (= fork) + "Löffel" (spoon)] I kid you not.

Interesting tidbit, HLP.
I suppose they should actually be called 'Foons' then - en Anglais.
Although 'Spork' does sound better...........!
In any case, Jock, you are always finding such interesting photos to share with us !

HPL,
I will add it to my vocab but as I try to learn more German I have to forget childhood memories. I find it vey difficult!
Thanks
