Bloody Wednesday in Olkusz Poland - a pacification action carried out in Olkusz on July 31, 1940 in retaliation for the death of a German gendarme. All men from Olkusz were spent that day on the town square and nearby squares, where they were subjected to brutal torture and harassment for several hours. In addition, "Bloody Wednesday" was preceded by the execution of 20 hostages on July 16, 1940. The Germans dragged from their homes all men aged 15 to 55 (it was several thousand people) who they gathered on the Olkusz market square and several nearby squares , where for several hours they were subjected to brutal torture and harassment. Victims were beaten, mistreated and humiliated in the most sadistic way.
