Postcards always make good displays. There’s a whole series of these medal postcards, even a war merit one and Spanish cross

I suppose I'll have to go looking for those now, then! My postcards all come from the same seller on eBay. He specialises in small paper items and occasionally sells things like Wehrpasses and DAF membership books. A good place to buy things when I'm short of money!

It appears there was once a postage stamp attached, likely removed by a collector. The ink stamp seems to be commemorating 50 years of Germany, with an inexplicable shellfish underneath the text. I can't decipher any of the text on the back, but I note that it is beautifully written, even by the impeccable standards of Sütterlin.
Well, Germany had been around for more than 50 years at the time. It says "HELGOLAND / 50 JAHRE DEUTSCH / 1890 - 1940". The island of Helgoland (or, as you chaps call it, Heligoland) became German in 1890.
The text says:
"Lieber Herr Dr., eine schöne Karte mit einer schönen Marke erlaubt sich zu senden [signed]"
["Dear Doctor, allowing herself to send you a beautiful card with a beautiful stamp is [signed]"
The signature looks like "Tilda Genzer" to me.
Clearly somebody agreed with her about the beautiful stamp.

It never crossed my mind that there would have been people collecting these stamps at the time, although I suppose it probably should have. And the mention of Heligoland explains the conspicuous crustacean. Thank you for the assistance with the translation. It is greatly appreciated, as always.
