Early postcard with Hitler in SS armband

Hi Guys, I don't really collect political items, but I have owned this item for over 35 years.

It is interesting as it shows Hitler wearing an SS pattern armband, with the black stripes to the edges.

Published around 1933, as it states, "Reichkanzler" but I suspect the image dates from earlier, as Hitler looks younger?

sorry for dragging up a old thread but i wasnt here then its a very intresting image. Why do you think he had that ss band on then ade?

Hi Ewan, I have not idea why Hitler wears this SS pattern armband. I was hoping someone else might know the story behind it.

I don't think I have ever seen (or at least consciously noted) Hitler wearing the SS-style brassard in any other photograph...

If I absolutely had to make a guess, I would suspect it had to with Hitler's official status as "Der oberste Führer der Schutzstaffel" ["The Supreme Commander of the Schutzstaffel"].

Maybe he wore the brassard (for appropriate occasions) to indicate this?

I was just watching the History Channel documentary "The World Wars" and I noticed that Hitler wore the SS armband in his younger years, but not the later ones. I'm not sure how accurate this is but thought I would look into it. I'm glad that someone else is as confused about this as me... has anyone found a definitive answer in the last 4 years?

Since this is the thread that led me to finding this place..via google image search...I wanted to mention I found a version found this photo autographed by Hitler on Alamy and he wrote under his name 1926. It can be found under the search "Hitler in Lederhosen" Old thread I know.
