Nice one Ralph. I'm wondering what that gun is in the background there??
I have just received another photo from what I believe is the same time, or a few minutes earlier.
It is a better photo of the vehicle.
    Ralph.

The medal ribbon in the first picture is actually the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse [War Merit Cross 2nd Class], not the EK 2.

The first ribbon on the ribbon bar in the second picture is the Dienstauszeichnung der Wehrmacht 4. Klasse [Armed Forces Long Service Award 4th Class] for 4 years of service. Not sure about the other two; my first thoughts were the Sudetenland- and Memel Medals, but it looks to me as if the they do not match exactly. They might be foreign awards.

On his right breast is the Spanienkreuz [Spanish Cross] without swords (in bronze or silver), on his left breast the Flotten-Kriegsabzeichen [Fleet War Badge] and the Deutsches Reichssportabzeichen [German National Sports Badge].

The sleeve rank insigne is for a Stabsgefreiter; below that is an Abzeichen für Sonderausbildung [Special Training Badge] identifying him as a qualified Entfernungsmesser mit Seeziel- und Flak-E-Messausbildung [rangefinger with training for sea targets and anti-aircraft rangefinding].

The second one in particular is a great photo, by the way!

The problem with old family pictures is that everyone is always trying to Re-do them I actually found an original "colorized" version of the first photo and scanned it in its original form...it's an EK2. I do thank you for the help, its to bad the edges are messed up other wise we may have had the bars...
