Any help translating the top photo would be much appriciated.
Not sure about full translation......but there are multiple locations written. Vesna, near Lviv...Seversky near Kiev etc etc. nice photos
It says:
"Wilfried Hiecke,
Lieutenant in a motorized rifle regiment
29 Jan. 20 - 30 Sept. 41
killed in action by a gunshot wound to the chest
while leading the way for his platoon,
45 kilometers east of
Nowgorod - Ssewersky by the Desna
(Ukraine)
Buried near Romanikow - [...]
The last picture: Day of the Wehrmacht
1941."
"Nowgorod - Ssewersky" is an alternate transliteration for the more commonly used Nowhorod-Siwerskyj (in Ukrainian Новгород-Сіверський ), a Ukrainian city located by the river Desna (Десна)
Sorry; I can't find Romanikow, and am not sure about the second part of that geographical designation.
Nice Andreas, I was hoping you would translate this. I was certainly wrong! haha It looked like Seversky, a completely different location in Ukraine.
Also, I must say again that this is a nice photo.....as usually these "gefallen" photos dont devulge as much info about the death.
