If you can make out the handwriting in pic no. 3 of post no. 1015 please let me know what it says. Thanks in advance.
The text written in red block letters says:

    "7. Geschütz
    nach dem
    Frankreich
    Feldzug
    "

    ...meaning:

"7th Gun [i.e. the crew of said gun]
    after the
    French
    Campaign
    "

The handwritten text in Sütterlin says:

"Zur Erinnerung an Deinen Neffen Karl
    Kriegsweihnachten 1940
    "

    ...meaning:

"As a memory to your nephew Karl
    Wartime Christmas 1940
    "

Oh, and just for the sake of completeness, the monument in post # 1017 is the one for the French 36th Infantry Division. We're back at the Chemin des Dames:

The tall uniformed man in the center of the front row is with the SA. The elderly man second from right in the front row is an NSDAP Political Leader. The man in the dark uniform with the cross strap behind him in the second row is a member of the DAF's Werkscharen.
Ahhhha! Thank you very much for your help. So a mixture in branches of service! I should have realised the other man was not SS, I didnt even bother to look at his Collar.....that would have given me the answer. Same w/ the NSDAP leader, should have noticed tabs, buckle, and lack of Sam Brown Belt. I was thrown off by the dark looking SA Dagger on the SA man too. Thanks again, as awlays

Mark, I think he would have affixed that skull himself. It is normally cloth....but that one looks metal to me. (which is what interested me!)

Chris, cool pics of the Arc De Triomphe'. I didnt know that was a Tomb either...thanks HPL!
