Man, those Russian Tank pics are great! That T34 got nailed! It must have been hit by a lower velocity cannon or sumthin, because you can clearly see the small dents and scrapes where the rounds must have deflected or something. But then they must have hit it with the PAK gun, which finally did it in for good, cuz you can see the 2 major holes!! AWESOME

Not sure if they are sharing the same coat.....but those fur coats were indeed Wehrmacht Winter issue and commonly seen on the Ostfront. I like the looks of them along w/ fur hat

As you can see the album's owner was awarded the EKII.
I assume that he didn't survive the war as his album photos end in the ost front.
Unless there were more albums, but got lost through the years.
These 4 albums were sold by the family to an antique buyer who goes with a truck in various villages and rings a bell like Santa Claus. People are coming out of their houses and sell their unwanted stuff. He then takes them back to his antique shop and resells.
A friend of mine in Mainz-Germany goes often to this shop, he saw the albums and bought them (that's from whom, i got them)

I don't understand what the photos are showing.
The text identifies this site as the "hedgehog position near Bor", apparently occupied from "22 November to 18 December 1941".

[Bor (Бор) is a Russian town in the Oblast Nizhny Novgorod. For the nature of hedgehog defense see: Hedgehog defence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ]

The second photo appears to show three camouflaged dugouts (in the upper right quadrant of the image). Otherwise, I see only snow and trees...

Clearly not the scene of someone being taken prisoner, but just what the caption says: Food has arrived.

Note the messkits held by the man standing behind the kneeling one, the generally relaxed and casual mood and the absence of weapons.

That one soldier is simply kneeling because he is handing out food to his comrades from a container/box set down on the ground.

All I can say is "Those guys had to have been cold"
