Hi Bill, looks like a Waffen SS camo. Nice pic.

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Chris, no, it is one of the earlier patterns. Not "Erbsmuster" or dot pattern as some call it.

    Cheers, Ade.

This is not a new pick-up, but thought I would share it with you. it is post card size.
This young man was a school friend of my mothers. I believe that I was told that he was 16 years old,(may be mistaken). It is unfortunate, he did not survive very long.
The note on the back is written to my mother.

Ade, thanks for your input on the Camo. Like Chris...I also thought It looked like the SS-"dot" camo pattern, but I really didnt feel comfortable enough to say for sure. Good to know it is an earlier variation, and thanks again.

Jerry - I would also think the Heer Flak finder (E-messer) badge would be uncommon, as I have never seen one for sale, nor do I have another example in a period photo of one in wear. I would love to see some more photos of it in wear if anyone has or knows of one! The only example I can find that even shows it, is in the Davis "Badges + Insignia" Book.

Ralph, this is an incredible portrait, yet very sad. Seems the photo was taken in Warsaw in 42? wow. He died only 6 months after this pic! He does indeed look very young. I know the age requirement to join the SS was 17, for volunteers at least. But I have no clue how strictly this was enforced? I know quite a few youngens slipped through the cracks in the US forces!
