    A studio portrait that came with album of the campaign in Poland 1939. Would be interested to learn something about the unit the soldier served with if anything can be deduced from the photo itself or the caption on the reverse..which unfortunately I cannot read.

    Hello,

    I think the waffenfarbe might actually be light blue. The collartabs would be light grey with dark green stripes( mid war generic) and the base color of them matches the color of the breast eagle and piping, at least in shade. I think the white would show up a little more. Nice picture no matter what his branch.

    Yes, compare the waffenfarbe and piping to the obvious white stripes on the EKII ribbon,IMO

    I just picked this foto of Adolf Eckert, Heer . This is a fine studio portrait with an interesting twist! He was a prisoner of war. The reverse is ink stamped:
