Some officers with nice visor caps. I would like to have those nice caps. Check the dude in the middle
I believe they are GJ but as such shouldn't they have on their visor caps, above the wrath and under the eagle, that small metal edelweiss insignia?

(havent figured out the Landesverband gruppe yet)
I can't identify it from these photos either. Still, they have some interesting details. Note that the moustachioed Stahlhelm member is wearing an unusual pattern of cap eagle, while his comrade appears to wear three cockades instead of the regulation cockade-eagle-cockade configuration. Also note the "Old Guard" year-of-entry badge worn below his left breast pocket.

Actually, he is neither: He a Beamter auf Kriegsdauer [Official for the duration of the war] of the gehobener Dienst [elevated career] with a rank equivalent to Oberleutnant.

Normally, yes, but this appears to be a "transitional" photograph: The men are wearing adapted Austrian uniforms: Notice the shape of the breast pocket flaps and the internal lower pockets. (By the way: Fittingly, the photographer's location - the municipalitiy of Lochau in the Bregenz district - is in Austria.)

I think these tropical troops are Luftwaffe. I have this impression because of the eagle on the left of the hat.
P.S. The EK on the reverse is just holding the photo in a straight position, for taking a better shot.
Andreas can you make out the letters on the reverse, it's got a difficult to read handwriting.

Andreas, Glad to see that you are back...hope you had a decent time. As usual I have a question. I thought that Beamte officials had that small triangular fixture on the collar tabs?? I have never seen one without the triangle before....so this is new to me. The shoulderboard in the photo also has the small strap across it, like the Ingenieurkorps (engineer corps) boards have, which also threw me off. Just when I think Im starting to learn a little about uniforms/rank something like this confuses the hell out of me! haha

Also, I was wondering if I made the correct ID on the HJ photo I bought? Is there any extra info you could gain from this photo?

And thank you for pointing out the Stahlhelm photo details. The cap eagle is what gave me the incentive to buy the photos in the first place, but I did not notice the man to the right with the 3 cockades. I overlooked it as a stahlhelm badge in the middle (even tho it is a later stahlhelm pic), but you are absoultely correct. I dont believe Ive seen this on any of my stahlhelm photos before. And I had no clue whatsoever what badge that was below the breast pocket. I believe the eagle in wear is the 1936 political eagle since the head is facing to the left. But I could be wrong, as usual. haha

Chris, I Agree with you that they are Luftwaffe men wearing tropical uniforms. You can kinda see the breast eagles on the shirts

The text on the back of the LW photograph in post # 486 says...:

    "Habe meine Wache
    dem Offizier v.D.
    [= vom Dienst]
    gemeldet"

    ...meaning:

"Have reported my watch to the duty officer"

The Luftwaffe's regular career officials [Beamte] as well as reserve officials [Beamte des Beurlaubtenstandes], reserve officials recalled to duty [zur Verfügung gestellte Beamte] and retired officials [Beamte außer Dienst] had triangular pips.
This man, however, is an official for the duration of the war [Beamter auf Kriegsdauer], i.e. a civilian specialist temporarily appointed as a Luftwaffe official as a wartime contingency measure.
Initially, these men wore blank collar patches; soon the oakleaf clusters/wreathes as for the regular officials of equivalent rank were added; but they never wore the rank pips. They also had these narrow shoulder cords instead of shoulder straps.
(The same applied to the Luftwaffe's other groups of specialists on temporary wartime duty, i.e. the Sonderführer, the Angehörigen des Ingenieurkorps auf Kriegsdauer and the Angehörigen des Nautikerkorps auf Kriegsdauer. All of them as well as the Beamte auf Kriegsdauer had branch-colored collar patches with appropriate piping and oak leaves, but without the rank devices - i.e. no wings/pips/propellers - and all of them wore shoulder cords instead of shoulder boards. For images of some such collar patches, see here: Axis History Factbook: Collar Tabs of the Luftwaffe (Specialist leaders) , although they are all referred to as Sonderführer collar patches with the corresponding rank level designations, which is only correct for the one at the bottom, but not for the officials' and engineers' collar patches.)

He is a Motor-HJ member; but you already know this of course. There's not much else I can tell; the district triangle is illegible and the two badges on his lower left arm are not clear enough to positively identify, either. The lower one appears to be one from the series of circular Motor-HJ trade badges circular with a "spoked wheel" design.

Normally, it shouldn't be a 1936-pattern political eagle, as the Stahlhelmbund [or, more precisely, the Nationalsozialistischer Deutscher Frontkämpferbund (Stahlhelm), as it was called at that time] was disbanded in late 1935 with its uniforms banned from wear after 10 November 1935.

Known as the Abzeichen der "Alten Garde" des Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten, [Badge of the "Old Guard" of the Stahlhelm, League of Front Soldiers] it was a badge vor veteran members of the Stahlhelmbund who had joined prior to 1933. These badges came with year-of-entry dates from 1918 to 1932. Here is an example from a period publication:

Bill i can't make out anything on their tunics. Details are not clear. I have assumed that they are LW coz of the eagle on the guy's helmet, who salutes and reports to the officer. Apparently he was the owner of the photo, based on Andrea's translation. Thanks once more Andreas.
