Some of us of cause have some WW2 period pictures with unrecognized places in the Ostfront. German soldiers like to make the pictures with the Orthodoxal churches on the Eastern front.
Here is the link to the churches of different Russian counties, mostly Smolensk, Tver ( Kalinin) and others. Some of the churches is still unrestored as they can be discovered on the old soldier's pictures.
Take a look and compare with yours.

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

That sure was an interesting and educational site, thank you Dimas, and Paul, thank yu for that photo as well ;-)) I see a lot of Russian Church photos for sale on ebay-German wartime pics that is, and ive been so tempted to go for some.

In the website, it sure is a shame that all of those Churches are going to waste. It is interesting to see bulletholes, and schrapnel damages to them. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall-when fighting was going on in and near those Churches.
