The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
Awesome photo of Lemelsen Paul!! Very cool.
Here is a neat photo of KC w/ Eichenlaub winner Hauptmann Diddo Diddens w/ GD standing with StuG III
Diddens had an interesting career and was one of the few members of the Heer to be awarded the Totenkopf Honor Ring...however he was an NCO in the Allgemeine SS earlier in his life.
He won his KC by destroying 35 Soviet Tanks while a ZugFuhrer in II./StuG Abt 185. He soon transferred to become Kmmndr of I./StuG Abt GD, later StuG Brigade GD...in which he earned the Oaks for his actions North of Jassy, where he would lose his leg. Sadly Diddo Passed in 1997. A hero like this should be remembered IMO!
Pic of him and a pic of StuG Brigade GD. Wish I knew more about these pics...dates/etc, but nothing written.
Graet photo of Diddens Bill , he is a particular favourite of mine as well , one of the top Assault Guuners of the war !!

"In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." - SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich - Arnhem
My newest acquisition, a photo of an unknown RK holder.
This is what Andreas deciphered from the discription:
"Besuch [...] dem Ritterkreuzträger Herrn Major [...]"
i.e.:
"Visit [...] the Knight's Cross Holder Major [...]
*EDIT* Could it be Alfred Meinigke?
