This pic of a Gebirgsjager was posted by member Oksnevad_2 in Bill T's colorized thread and when I asked about the badge on the edeilweiss center and what was the pin behind it was, he did not know. So I was wondering if anybody here could give me an answer to what they are.

...And the badge pinned to the center of his cap Edelweiß is the Petsamo-Rovaniemi badge.

Thank you all very much for your excellent answers!
I guess I have one more question then. So would the edelweiss in that configuration have been authorized for wear?

    Strictly spoken, no.

Adopted both by Finnish and German troops, the Petsamo-Rovaniemi badge was an unofficial, but tolerated commemorative badge for those who had taken part in the Petsamo-Rovaniemi march on the Eismeerstraße. Still, despite its unofficial nature, some German units actually created award documents for it on their own initiative.

So wearing the badge was generally tolerated and even sort-of-semi-official on a unit level, but it can not be considered officially authorized in the true sense of the term.

Altering the mountain troops' cap Edelweiß - which was, of course, very much an official insigne - by pinning this badge on top of it was definitely in violation of regulations. (Although, again, it may have been tolerated or even customary within this man's unit.)

I think thise SS M-44 DOT PATTERN CAMOUFLAGE DRILL TUNIC has a special cut, also exeptional with officers shoulder claps and the fact it is worn by a WH officer.
