Found a nice little negative of a Stug. I scanned it in and inverted the negative (below). It's kind of funny that the guy standing by the last truck looks like he could be taking a leak, while the Stug commander is yelling back to get a move on.

a great collection,.but for future reference watermark your pictures when posting them online as people can create re-productions of them, especially if they are well photographed & look good in HD.& then they are out there in the collectors circles as origionals.

The caption to the photo of the soldier with the teddy bear says:

    "Mein Bruder im Urlaub
    1943 Januar am Ab-
    schieds-Abend.
    "

    ["My brother on leave
    1943 January on the
    evening of goodbye
    *"]

*) A literal translation; the term "Abschiedsabend" does not translate too well; it refers to the last evening before he went away again.

You know, I can't help but wonder whether the presence of the bear has any special meaning (was it his beloved toy when he was a child? Did it belong to his own children?) and whether this goodbye was perhaps the last one. Also, the contrast of Hitler's picture on the wall with something as innocent as a teddy bear makes the photo interesting.

By the way, he's a member of the Marineartillerie [Naval Artillery].

The photo with the flags is captioned as being of a Volkssturm oath-taking ceremony.

I wondered the same thing myself. I didn't want to caption the photo, since there was so much to find strange about it, and see what people might say. The bear maybe could have been a gift too?

There are actually Two photos of Hitler in the picture. He is surrounded by Hitler, with the small photo behind the lamp. I was wondering-perhaps the bear was from his child that was lost while he was away at the wars? He looks quite somber.

You're right; I hadn't noticed that one. It's a framed postcard with a Hitler portrait by Willy Exner.

He also seems to be sitting with his elbow next to a Music box. (The key is sticking out of the left side panel).. All the more to wonder about a deceased child, when he is photographed next to perhaps their 2 favorite objects? Very odd photo.
