Re: SS books
My best guess would still be "Georg Heinrich ***** Kröncke, gen von Ahn." Kröncke looks to definitely be the family name,(Familienamen) but it looks to have an aristocratic "Von name" added to it as well. The "vornamen" or first names look to be Georg Heinrich and a third name that I cannot read. Many of the older German names had multiple names when written fully out. My wife's grandfather was Walter Gustav Helmuth M***** and His father's name was Ewald Christian Gustav Adolph M*****. Just as odd, Ewald's wife's name was Dorothea Josephine Justine L***** ! It made for some interesting marriage license applications, for sure. So you can see, the older Germans had quite long formal names. Perhaps someone more well versed in reading the older German handwriting can shed some more light on it better. In any case, the owner of the book was just a Kid-barely of age by the war's end. A very interesting paper lot.
