Waffen-SS Photos!
Hi, I bought these two photos today. One of them is a studio photo of a Waffen-SS soldier and the other one is a photo of three officers in field.
It looks like the studiophoto is a postcard. Was it common to make postcard out of studiocards? So they could send it home etc.? Or is it a propaganda made postcard?

Re: Waffen-SS Photos!
Ususally they send negatives back to home. Interesting picture where the 3 officers sitting. All wear a M 36 cotract issue field jackets, even the left officer wear old style VT type collar tab with removed letter/digit. Eagle looks like a BeVo Mannschaft grey rayon eagle

Okey, thanks for the info dimas!
So the studiophoto is a original photo or a converted photo?
When do you think the photo of the 3 officers is taken? Early in the war?

Re: Waffen-SS Photos!
I think the Postcard is an original. The fellow would have had several
possibly a dozen or so made and sent them home, etc.

I would say probably yes.
They are wearing the "air force style" field cap introduced for Waffen-SS officers with an order of December 1939, so the photograph was not taken before that time.
The M1936 field blouses and the modified SSVT-collar patch pointed out by Dimas as well as the lack of any visible combat decorations hint at an early-war photograph.
While we cannot be certain about it, it feels like an image from the 1940 Western Campaign to me.

Hi, Was it only LSSAH who wore them? Or did Das Reich wore them too?

Three of the regiments within "Das Reich" had shoulder strap cyphers which also existed as cloth slip-on slides: "Deutschland" (= "D"), "Germania" (= "G") and "Der Führer" (= "DF").
