Here´s an image it show´s a way, how to slaughter a cow.
Interesting, the butcher uses a polish pattern 29 Mauser-rifle.
Many of this rifles where used in the Whermacht.

Poor Daisy, certainly would be weary of the recoil, in that firring position.

Interesting photo, he's obviously not a country boy as this is not the best way to slaughter a cow with a rifle!
It may be a staged photo as it looks like the rifle has the bolt up (?) and I would feel very uncomfortable if I was the guy holding Daisy. Too much margin for error for my liking!
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Agreed; from the whole feel of the image, I would say they are probably just clowning around for the camera.

Whatever it is they are trying to do, they are not killing the cow. Notice the german soldier holding it with a rope, with his hand practically touching its head.
These soldiers would have to be idiots to shoot this cow at point blank with a soldier standing so close.

May be Daisy committed treason, and gave up vital information to the enemy.
Therefore she had to be shot on the spot, of course it helps, she probably tasted really good.....
