good call wwwmilitaria: at this earlier stage in the war and especially at his particular rank, he surely wouldnt have any problem with shortages. This was an interesting topic as i have noticed slight "modifications" done to various uniforms in many photos as well and have always wondered why. To find out that it was just to "stick it to the MAN" or to be different is very entertaining. Thanks for this thread
