What german tanks?

Got two period tank pictures as part of a lot today and decided to turn to the forum for info on what type of German tanks theese would be. All help welcome as usual

I would have gone with a MKIV with the short 75mm for the top one and a MKIII for the lower with the long 50mm.

That would make a change Pete.

As he appears to have the Panzer beret on, I don't think the short barreled 75mm was fitted to the MKIIIN until after these had stopped being worn.

Top photo is a Mk IV F1 or earlier model not Mk III N model-short L24 75mm gun-last production model of the tank, ironically armed with the low velocity gun used in the role of fire support that the slightly bigger Mk IV had originally been armed with but the Mk IV could be upgunned with the longer L43 and then L48 75mm gun, whilst the Mk III carried the long L60 50mm as the maximum calibre high velocity weapon that could be fitted as seen in the lower photo-this is an L or M model Mk III.

The top photo is indeed an early model panzer IV, you can tell it's a IV by the size and number of road wheels. Jerry is the man!...

indeed and a very early example at that. The MKIII does not have the hatches on the front plate.
