This is a very interesting picture indeed, is it yours?

Difficult to tell what he was thinking. Maybe he was checking the helmet for bullet holes or maybe he is yust posing for the photographer with a war trophy in his hand. I'am sure we will never know...

Like I said before, the OP question can never be answerd unless we know who the soldier and the photographer are. When the OP finds this out, then we have a chance of knowing the answer to his question. All the rest is yust guesswork without any basis. All we have is this picture, the soldier in question could of thought of a million things while he was standing there...

A lot of send back to home, I think that was a kinda fashion- each soldier bring back a lot of stuff, it is why today we can find a lot of interesting items.
I saw the picture some time ago, posted by Bob Hritz with a lot of mint insignia from the vet estate. If he can post it in the forum- this will be awesome!

US soldiers, unlike their British comrades, were officially allowed to post souvenirs home. Helmets often got sent unwrapped just with an address label stuck on them.

Is that photo original? I have doubts somehow..

Both of my Grandpas ( my Moms dad and my Fathers dad) sent home ALOT of stuff and after they both i got almost all of it (2 foot lockers and 3 medium size boxes of stuff)
