    It looks like he went from the RAD to the Army (Arlillerie) and that he is wearing a walking out dress uniform" ausgehanzug" with sword and the early Waffenrock tunic and peaked cap.

    You should look at the shoulder straps with a magnifying glass as they may well have his unit number on them.

    As the number will be in red against a dark green background they may be difficult to see.
