Candle holder made from shell cases

I have known about this piece of "Jersey" trench art for the last 40 odd years. I first saw it as a youngster in St.peters Bunker Museum here on the Island, then when the museum closed it changed ownership and went to the German War Tunnels. They disposed of unwanted items a while ago and a friend got it. I have just acquired it a few days ago. I don't think ther are too many pieces of trench art made here on the islands but this is certainly one of them. The 88 shell being cut down and a 2cm shell added. So far the missus has not seen its trench art and just thinks its a candle holder so its in the living room.

Oh, don't worry...eventually, she'll move it to dust or clean and she'll turn it over.....then Wham-O! You'll have a fine trench art candlestick hat!
