Cigar tin or trench art?

Hi all, a friend of mine showed me this beautiful brass box with a hinged lid. It is about 4 inches long, 3 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep. Can anyone translate the German inscription for me?

"Gott Mit Uns" = God is with us...or, basically, God is on our side. The emblem looks like a roundel from a German belt buckle of WWI era. A nice piece of trench art!
