An italian mess kit decorated by a german POW
Hello fellow collectors ,
here I want to show a very special kind of decoration
of a POW´s mess kit.
The man left quite a bit of information on this piece of his
equipment...
From what he has engraved we can say that he was from Vienna/Austria ,
that he worked as a bricklayer during his time in Saporoshje from `45 to `47
and that he saw himself sitting and enjoying wine and viennese folk music...
after coming home..
He even left his russian WP number on kit...
on the top of the mess kit he engraved the shields of vienna and Austria.
