Okey..What Is This Thing??
A strange little thing I picked up from a digger that I know and have dealt with in the past. He threw it in for free with a package that I had put together, so no big deal if it's crap-ola, but I've been puzzling on it ever since. It measure's about an inch and 3 quarters high by an inch wide and whatever it is, it's been quite carefully made. The bottom has been tightly folded over and, yes, it does, indeed, hold "water". Faintly scratched on the side-it's barely visible in the photos-are the words "Karelien 1942"...it's hard to make out-even under a 15 power loupe. At first glance, is it some sort of field made shot glass? Or is it something more exotic like a finger tip wound protector that you taped over the end of your bandaged finger to keep from banging into it? Whatever it is, it's interesting and came out of the ground, so it's "real", for what it's worth. It makes for a good conversation piece, if nothing else! What do you guys think? Any ideas?

Obviously field made and perhaps the tip from a Wolchow stick or similar?

Whatever
its just an opinion.

Another possibility! Interesting!
(although the bottom corners are square and pointy!)

I would go for the "field-made shot glass" theory, too.

Shotglass made from a Signal-Flare Casing...

Don't think it would be a shot glass, in the last photo, the corner metal looks sheared too far up, it would leak. Though I guess in the trenches a small leak is the last thing they'd worry about.

Whatever it was, the owner thought enough of it to scratch on the date and place....it's a strange little thing!
