I have always had a fondness for these items. I bought this from a dear friend several years ago. It was the most interesting piece I had encountered. About two years later, I found an identical piece except for the horse head top in an auction. They were definitley carved by the same artisan. I have always wondered what happened to these local artisans after Uncle Joe's troops took control of the area. Note the base is actually an empty casing from a flare.

The edelweiss would lead me to believe that the owner of this stick was attached to a member of either the 3rd or 5th Gebergsjaeger Division. The grapes, wine bottle and carafe are also an interesting feature of this stick.

Default So called Wolchow stick from 1943

This is the only Wolchow stick in my collection. Made in 1943. The good thing is that it is not "denazified" after the war ended. If You have similar sticks in Your collection, plese post some pictures.
