Unfortunately parting with this Beautiful and rare photo of General der Panzertruppe Ludwig Cruwell of 11th Panzer Division, who is handing the later Generalleutnant Gunther Angern, his Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. Both were members of 11th Panzer Division at the time. Pretty neat that Angern is wearing his helmet at the ceremony IMO.

Angern received his KC on August 5, 1940, even before General der Panzertruppe
Cruwelll!! So could their be some jealousy in this photo?

But now worries, Ludwig Cruwell would becomd Commander of the AFRIKA KORPS, answering directly to Rommel! Needless to say he received his KC as well.

Günther Angern committed suicide on 2 February 1943 before the surrender of German forces at Stalingrad.

There are 2 (maybe 3) known other images of Gunther Angerns Knights Cross Ceremony that I know of....and this is one of them that hadn't been seen until it came to light. You wont find another of these up for sale and I know I will be kicking myself for selling it!!

A cool piece of both Stalingrd and Afrika Korps history!!

Photo is Uv neg (so is album residue) and 100% comfortable with its period authenticity

Better than a nice SS portrait IMO, so jump on this before I change my mind
