Obergefreiter John schutzes born in Ribau was called up in 1941 for the schwere artillery ersatz abteilung 55 in Braunschweig. from 1941 to 1944 with 291 artillery regiment of the 291st Infantry Division.

He was hospitalized several times both sick and wounded by ear inflammation , freezing his third injury was the most severe shrapnel in the left knee , right leg, right forearm . Right calf and was only dismissed on 26 July 1945 from the military hospital in Gottleuba .
