Any vintage bike experts out there? Bike in WWII Axis service.
Im a vintage bike afficionado and this bike caught my eye.
Does anybody have any idea what the donor motorbike was for this railroad track vehicle?
Personally, Im leaning towards a Polish SOKOL, but would like a second (or third, or fourth etc) opinion.

It looks very much like an NSU 601 OSL series 2 from the late 1930s!......

Good call!
Headlight & front fork fits.
Engine is difficult to compare because of the period pic, but from what is visible, it looks like the NSU.
Knee protector on the aft of the tank looks right and further more one can just faintly discern the 'washed out' badge further forward on the tank in the WWII pic.
Brackets on the front fork/head light not quite the same, but might just be small model variations or field modifications.
NSU looks right. Thanks for contribution.

Dang, you were fast out of the starting blocks ...
You know your bikes.
I assume you have an interest in these?
-
I suppose i'm just a bike "geek"!....
-
As fast as you guessed that one, I'd say that was an understatement.
-
The cylinder head did it, that finning and the twin exhaust ports made it easy to spot!...

-
I'd say that settled then NSU it is. Thanks for responding, gents.
