    Given that the hatch has an external hinge, an internal locking mechanism and appears to be armour thick, I'd suggest that it's a spent cartridge port cover from a tank. But I'm afraid I don't know what from.

    Ah, think I've found the hatch now. PzKpfw IV, just next to the return rollers. Not sure if they're fuel filler hatches? I was thrown by what I thought was an internal locking mechanism, then I realised that there are flats on the external bolt head, allowing it to be opened and shut with a spanner.
