Great pictures so far, I do quite like the Kubelwagen, I get the impression a well-maintained one could still be a very practical little car.

Incidentally, this one,

isn't actually a Kubelwagen, but a post war variant of them called the VW 181, or informally 'The Thing'. I think they were originally designed for military work, but a lot of them ended up as civilian vehicles, often as reacreational vehicles in places with beaches warm, dry climates, like California. None of which detracts from the thread, or from the 181 which is probably itself a good little car.
