    Hi, I would like to present you this SSh-40 that I found recently in a barn where fighting took place in autumn of 1944.

    Can anyone help me understand if this is wartime or post war? If I understand correctly you can somehow tell them apart from the sloping of the helmet and the chinstrap but I’m not an expert in steel helmets.

    If it turns out to be wartime I’ll try to save the paint that’s chipping pretty badly.

    I have no experience with helmets but to my untrained eye this could be a good one. Would be an excellent find indeed. Will follow this thread with great interest to see the opinions from the experienced helmet collectors.
